Unique and Distinctive Qualities

UCP of Southern Maryland provides services to a wide variety of folks, not just people with cerebral palsy as the name implies. Its main goal is to support people with disabilities to live and work in their communities through very customized services. Services are based on the person of family's needs and choices.

UCP of Southern Maryland consistently strives to provide the very best services possible. Services are offered in a supportive, community environment where people who receive services are encouraged to be the best they can be with supports they need to succeed.

Discuss How Your Agency Has Utilized The "Ask Me!" Survey Results.

UCP of Southern Maryland is very proud of the results of the "Ask Me!" project. It has included articles about these results in its "Grapevine" newsletter that goes out to individuals, families, and businesses throughout Southern Maryland.

In addition, its two Quality Assurance Teams have analyzed the results of the two sets of Ask Me results that it has received looking always at not only what it does well, but what it can do better. This has been followed-up by setting internal program goals and agency-wide goals. It is it's belief that it should provide the very best services possible, and the best indicator of quality services is how the folks who receive the services feel about them.

The "Ask Me!" Survey Results is available for the general public.

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations.

UCP of Southern Maryland is licensed through the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Quality of service is the number one priority in its Agency Strategic Plan and its Employee Value Statements. Its extensive Quality Assurance system reflects this priority, both from programmatic prospective and an individual consumer prospective.

UCP of Southern Maryland has two Quality Assurance Committees comprised of volunteers, board members and staff members. Representatives from the two committees meet 30% of recepients of services and their families to find out if they are satisfied with the services. Data from these surveys are analyzed for follow-up. In FY05, 100% of residential and Supported Employment consumers were satisfied with these services while 94% of the Individual/Family Support Services and Community Supported Living Arrangement were satisfied with their services

In addition, program goals are tracked and followed-up for quality purposes.
