Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations.

Star Community has an active QA team that meets at least 2 times per month. Members of the team include and equal number of community members for every Star Community employee represented as well as an individual who receives services in the residential and day programs. The QA team submits a new plan at the start of every calendar year as well as a complete written summary from the previous years plan.

The agency has achieved and maintained the "Standards of Excellence" certification since 2001.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

Community integration is a huge part of the Ventures Day program and the residential program. Individuals participating in day activities may receive job skills training at one of the many businesses and organizations that support the program. Skills being taught include gardening, recycling, and cleaning services. Other groups participate in volunteering at local nursing homes, produce stands, the Humane Society and other locations. Being in the community and participating in meaningful life experiences is a focus of all day crews. Residentially individuals are active in their churches, special olympics, the local chapter of the Red Hat Society and much more.
