The closure of Rosewood is a time of uncertainty and change for the remaining 400 employees who work there. Since the announcement of Rosewood's closing, DHMH has implemented aggressive placement and counseling services for the employees at Rosewood
Despite a department-wide hiring freeze Rosewood employees have first priority for jobs that may be available throughout DHMH. The Department of Budget and Management has granted freeze exemptions to State agencies hiring Rosewood employees, making it easier for other agencies to hire and recruit employees of Rosewood.
DHMH is offering incentive bonuses to employees who remain to the projected date of their lay-off.
DHMH is also providing opportunities for employee development and career enhancement:
Diploma Program: A second GED Program and the Diploma Program will be offered in August 2008. This program, offered by Baltimore County Community Colleges, is an opportunity for employees who want help in obtaining their high school diploma. Interested staff should call Vander Spruill at 410-767-1844.
CNA/GNA Program: Training will be provided to employees interested in CNA or GNA certification. This would not require employees to have a high school diploma to take the course and would provide job placement in the private healthcare sector following the course. Information will be coming soon on how to apply for this resource.
Tuition reimbursement is available to those employees completing degrees or certification programs until June, 2009. Contact Jessica George at 410-767-1605 for more information.
