RESPITE SERVICES

This service is available for eligible non-residents of the Center when parents and guardians need relief from the care of the individual. Respite Services help families meet emergency needs and/or fulfill vacation plans. Responsible, temporary care is provided at Rosewood Center to meet these requests for up to 28 consecutive days limited to a 45-day total in each year.

HABILITATIVE SERVICES

Each consumer receives an individualized program that provides aggressive, formal and informal training, therapeutic supports, health care and other related services. These services are integrated in each person's residential, work and recreational environments. The services assist the person to acquire skills to function with as much independence and self-determination as possible and to prevent the deceleration, regression or loss of optimal functioning. CLINICAL SERVICES

Individuals residing at Rosewood Center are provided an array of preventive and routine health care services intended to meet their health care needs. Health care services may range from 24-hour physician and nursing care to drop-in medical supervision. The facility staff includes: physicians, nurses, a clinical pharmacist, audiologist and a dentist. Additionally, the Center has on-site contractual services in: psychiatry, podiatry, pharmacy, urology, ophthalmology and radiology. The Center also enjoys a close working relationship with local acute care facilities and hospitals for preventative health care services or inpatient treatment. THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

Rosewood employs a full array of professional staff who participate in the development of consumers' individual plans and who provide training to staff and direct integrative services to consumers in formal and informal settings. A number of these staff are certified by the national credentialing agencies for their specific discipline. Other staff in this category are licensed and/or certified by the State of Maryland and meet continuing educational requirements. These staff include:

PROGRAM AND VOCATIONAL SERVICES

Rosewood offers a full range of day program and vocational services. From individuals striving to enhance their interactions with the environment to individuals seeking full time employment, all are served through a wide variety of therapeutic and vocational training plans and settings. The focus of the day program is to develop work skills and behaviors and to promote a feeling of success for a job well done. Many individuals enjoy the services of community day program providers. Rosewood offers transitional supports as needed to maintain this essential community connection.

RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

The Residential Services Department at Rosewood provides direct training, supervision and support to all consumers on a twenty-four hour continuum. This training and support is integrated across the living, working and recreational environments and is offered in a context of respect, dignity and choice. The Residential Services Department is organized into three units, each providing specialized care and services for the consumers who live there. The Paca Unit offers services and supports to people with behavioral challenges and those ordered by the courts to Rosewood. The Key Unit focuses on the care and support of people who have medical and health related concerns. The Peabody Unit specializes in providing care and supports for geriatric and sensory impaired persons. Contact person for Residential Services is

DIETETIC SERVICES

The Rosewood Center's Dietetic Services Department, in addition to preparing and providing each consumer 3 meals and two snacks per day, provides: individualized nutritional assessments and menus designed and evaluated by Registered Dietitians to meet the dietary needs of the population. Environmental Services are provided at Rosewood Center to ensure a safe, attractive, well functioning environment. Services include: preventive and routine maintenance, housekeeping, linen/laundry, grounds maintenance, pest control, transportation services and police services. VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Rosewood Center's Volunteer Services Department provides a wide range of opportunities for individuals and groups to provide service to people with developmental disabilities and to support Rosewood Center. Rosewood currently has students, homemakers, retired persons, church groups, civic groups and eagle scouts who volunteer their time and services.
