Mission Statement

To create and support opportunities in the community that empower individuals to choose, obtain, and maintain socially valued roles in the community integrated living, learning, working, and social environments through the utilization of natural supports and generic resources.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

Rock Creek Foundation possesses Mental Health (MHA) license as well as a Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) license. Rock Creek is very skilled in working with people who have a dual diagnosis of developmenatl disability and mental illness. Rock Creek's wrap-around therapeutic approach offers a unique and successful environment that supports and encourages independence. Rock Creek Foundation's goals are to facilitate careers that deliver real jobs in real industries with real pay and to provide residential living arrangements in the community that encourages independence. Its day services provide a therapeutic milieu for individuals that are dual diagnosed that provides an environment in which an individual can learn how to cope with their mental illness and maintain their independence in the community.

Rock Creek has a quality Assurance plan that is approved by DDA. The Committee meets every other month and reviews all aspects of the program from incident reports to the cleanliness of the houses.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

Rock Creek encourages and teaches individuals how to access the community through the use of public transportation and community facilities such as the public library, community centers, etc. Partnership with community supports are developed and used to promote independence. One such partnership is the Best Buddies program that works with both Rock Creek and the University of Maryland to help individuals form friendships. Another partnership was with the Montgomery County Police that provided in home training to individuals on how to be safe in the community.
