Mission Statement

It is the mission of Richcroft, Inc. to create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to develop and sustain meaningful relationship in and contribute to community life.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

Richcroft is one of a small number of agencies in Maryland that provides services and supports to individuals with disabilities and their families in multiple subdivisions. Since 1983, Richcroft has provided services in Harford, Carroll, Howard, and Baltimore counties.

Richcroft's residential homes are located in neighborhoods and made up of single-family homes, townhouses, condominiums, and apartments. Sixty percent of the homes serve three individuals with disabilities. Forty percent of the homes serve two individuals or individuals living alone. Richcroft supports one married couple. The agency has successfully addressed the issue of staff turnover by providing independent apartments in its homes for direct support.

In 2004, Richcroft built a home in Harford county incorporating the principles of "Universal Design". The home contains features that are usable by all people without the need for adaptation. Currently plans are under way to build more homes incorporating Universal Design. Richcroft recognizes the growing need for affordable and accessible housing for adults with developmental disabilities and has been successful in providing that service.

Discuss How Your Agency Has Utilized The "Ask Me!" Survey Results.

Richcroft has used the "Ask Me!" results to identify areas where it can "rethink" how supports are provided with a goal of increasing the satisfaction of individuals in the program. Richcroft holds focus groups with all staff to discuss the results of the "Ask Me" survey and develops training programs for staff based on recommendations from those focus groups.

The "Ask Me!" Survey Results is available for the general public.

Discuss your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations

Richcroft employs a licensed clinical social worker as its full-time Quality Assurance Director. The Quality Assurance Director oversees quality assurance practices including Richcroft's Quality assurance Plan. The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for implementing the Reportable Incidents Policy. She uses reportable incidents to identify areas that need improvement and works with appropriate administrators, and direct support staff on the development of plans to improve quality.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

Richcroft is committed to supporting everyone in its program to develop and participate in leisure activities of their choice. Each Individual Plan addresses leisure pursuits. This initiative is part of Richcroft's Quality Assurance Plan. The agency provides ongoing training to direct support staff that focuses on strategies to help people with severe disabilities become connected and engaged in their communities.

Steps Individuals Must Take to Apply for Services

Interested individuals and families should contact the agency directly. Meetings are held with interested parties to discuss the services/supports requested and the agency's history and ability to meet an individual's needs. Richcroft's administrative staff have a successful history of working with families and Resource Coordinators in developing and presenting service plans to the Developmental Disabilities Administration for funding.
