Discuss How Your Agency Has Utilized The "Ask Me!" Survey Results.

"Ask Me!" survey data is part of The Arc of NCR's system of Quality Improvement and reflected in its DDA approved CQI Plan. Its leadership team analyzes the "Ask Me" results and other customer quality of life and satisfaction data. Results are then used in Strategic Planning. In previous years, analysis of "Ask Me!" data has led the agency to :

  1. Focus on relationships. The Arc of NCR develops a plan for each individual that identifies how they define friendship, satisfaction with this outcome, and supports needed to reach this outcome. This is measured via annual Outcome interviews for "people have Friends". The Arc of NCR has seen a steady increase in satisfaction with frienships over the past few years, from 27% in 2004 to 65% in 2006, and
  2. Improving access to reliable, affordable and dependable transportation: "Ask Me" and other interviews have revealed that transportation is a major issue for people Arc of NCR supports. The Arc of NCR has put effort into improving public transportation for persons with disabilities in Harford County. One result, The Arc of NCR and another agency has been added as a stop on the Harford County transportation routes and there is travel trainer to assist individuals to access the system.

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations

The Arc of NCR was recently accredited by CQI, formerly known as the Counci on Quality and LEadership. The Arc Of NCR is also a member of the Maryland Association of Resources For Family and Youth (MARFY). The Arc strives to have in place assurances and systems that meet not just the basic regulatory requirements, but reflect its goal to be accountable to its primary customers, those people buying its services. Its Standing Committee for Quality Improvement oversees the agency's quality assurance and quality improvement activities. Members of this committee and related sub-committees are a balance of people buying services, family members, community volunters, and staff from various levels of the agency.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

The Arc believes in typical lifestyles in their communities for all people regardless of their disability. The Arc provides customized support services for adults and young people with disabilities and their families. Support staff work with each individual to meet the needs of everyday life, to build new friendships, and take an active part in their communities.
