The mission of the First Metropolitan Facilities, Inc. is to provide Maryland children with developmental disabilities wrap around supports and services in small home-like setting. FMFI is committed to reunification of children with their families and ensuring that the children receive quality supports and services that will maxmize their fullest potential.
FMFI has success rate of unfication of chidren to their families and retention of their return to their homes and communities. In 2005 FMFI had six discharges 4 of whih the child return to their family members. Two of the discharges, the children graduated to independent Living programs. No children were discharged to large institutional settings. FMFI is committed to reunification and providing quality services and supports for children with autism.
FMFI has incorporated into their outcome measures in their Quality Assurance Plan as well as incorporating the results into performance measures for the staff. FMFI also has successful rate for staff retention. Many of the staff have been with the program since its inception. The "Ask Me!" survey has also redefined the mission and outcome measures for the agency. FMFI population serves adolescent males with Autism and other related developmental disabilities.

FMFI Quality Assurance Practice primary focus is reunification with families. If reunification is not possible, maintaining contact with family members and their communities is the ultimate goal. FMFI focuses on outcomes and "buy in" from all stakeholders to ensure the children served receive the highest quality services and supports as possible. FMFI QA focuses on qualitative data of their outcome measures which the success rate of family reunifiaction and staff retention.
FMFI is committed to ensuring the children served are active members of their communities. During the summer months, the children are enrolled in the neighborhood camps operated by the local jurisdiction Parks and Recreation. FMFI does not segregate the children in specialty camps because of their disability. Each summer the children have season passes to Six Flages of America, attend neighborhood camps and summer programs. Since reunification is the highest priority, amny of the children often return too their home communities for extended weekend visits of family members participate in summer activities within the community of their residence.

Special Considerations/Comments: FMFI currently operates 2 homes that are barrier free. All homes are accessible by public transportation.
