Mission Statement

Jewish Family Services (JFS) provides family and individual support services throughout its community, particularly to those in need, in ways that promote human dignity, enhance self-sufficiency and reflect enduring values of Jewish tradition.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

JFS is accredited by JCAHO for a wide range of services. Most clients of JFS are seen by a Licensed Social Worker for counseling and/or case management services. JFS has an on-site mental health clinic staffed by two Psychiatrists. JFS's clinics takes MEdicaid and Medicare as well as private insurance. Clients can have all of mental health needs met at JFS. Although its DDA services are non-sectarian, JFS can assist clients who want a Jewish environment. All of its Alternative Living Units (ALU) serve Kosher food and celebrate and celebrate all Jewish holidays. One of its ALU's is Sabbath observant as well. JFS also serve clients who are insulin dependent.

JFS has worked to improve its client's interpersonal relationships by providing more social activities such as trips to amusement partks, beaches, Atlantic City and local community outings such as museums and the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Many JFS clients also attend a weekly Baltimore County Recreation Center Program as well as social groups at the Jewish Community center. many of its clients have now opened up their own bank accounts and are encouraged to have money by developing budgeting goals for these events and their own personal use.

JFS uses a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process of objective, systematic monitoring and evaluation of customer services and their delivery to ensure that quality, appropriate care is rendered to clients/customers

Included in this plan are the "internal" services that most appropriately support the organization and its staff. The primary goals of a CQI plan are to evaluate the quality, appropriateness and outcomes of services. This accomplished through the following means:

JFS is accredited by the Joint Commission of Healthcare Organizations.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

JFS encourages all clients to participate in activities of interest to them. This includes: attending synagogues or church, attending the Jewish community Center or YMCA and county recreation programs. JFS also encourages clients to advocate and testify in Annapolis as well as involving them in JFS Board Committees.
