The Arc of Howard County strives to use "best practices" in all of the services provided to the individuals supported by The Arc, in order to achieve full community life.

Ask Me! results are integrated into the annual Monitoring And Advisory Committee report to the Board of Directors.

The "Ask Me!" Survey Results is available for the general public.

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations?

The Quality Enhancement committees of The Arc Of Howard County review and assess qualitative indicators of individual and general support which it provides. The committees assess effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction of the individuals who receive support from The Arc of Howard County.

Individuals who receive support from The Arc of Howard County, family members, members of the community and staff actively participate on the Quality Enhancement committees. Each committee has a ratio of one half interested stakeholders from the community, who sign confidentiality statements, and one half agency based staff.

Quality assessment functions are performed by the following committees of The Arc of Howard County: the Human Rights and Behavior Support Committee, Safety Committee, Monitoring and Advisory Committee, and the Incident Review Committee.

The Arc of Howard County is accredited by the Standards of Excellence.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

Individuals who receive residential supports annually compile an interest inventory. At least one IP objective for each individual focuses on community participation, based on their interest inventory. Supoort Services are provided in community setings, with an emphasis on participation in community activities.

Steps Individuals Must Take to Apply for Services

Individuals or their families should make an appointment with the director of the program which the individual is interested in getting services from and they will need to fill out an application for services.

Special Considerations/Comments: The Arc of Howard County primarily serves individuals who have a cognitive or developmental disability who live , or wish to live, in Howard County.
