Mission Statement

The Carroll County Bureau of Aging is dedicated to provining the highest quality of services, programs, and assistance to promote choice, dignity, and independence for older adults and those who care for them.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

The Senior Inclusion Program is a unique center which is designed to offer structured and non-structured retirement activities for older adults with developmental disabilities within a mainstreamed setting.

PROGRAM GOALS:

Discuss How Your Agency Has Utilized The "Ask Me!" Survey Results.

The Carroll County Bureau of Aging has reviewed the "Ask Me!" Survey Results and has incorporated the findings into its daily running operations to create a happier healthier retirement center. Survey questions related to work were looked upon as volunteer duties within the center. This survey helps the program incorporate the wants and needs of its participants into a vital daily program which can better serve senior persons with developmental disabilities

The "Ask Me!" Survey Results is available for the general public

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations.

Quality Assurance practices are designed to provide a safe and healthy environment and provide meaningful, productive retirement activities. Its yearly survey is designed to give the bureau feedback on its daily programs, activities and community outings. This feedback provides the bureau with information which is used to improve its daily program and schedule productive community outings.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

The Bureau's inclusive program within the Westmister Senior Activities Center, its first community focus is senior center and the care of older population in Carroll County. Volunteer work within the senior center is a big part of the inclusion program. During many of its daily activities, handmade stamped cards birthday or get well cards are produced. These cards are sent to people in the hospital or those who are recuperating at home. Many cards are produced and given to the Meals on Wheels of greater Baltimore. These cards are handed out with home delivered meals all over the Baltimore Metropolitan region.

Another community service is its travelling interactive musical bell ringing group, the SIP Freedom Ringers. This musical group is asked to perform throughout the county for various functions.
