Mission Statement

To ensure that people with developmental disabilities have maximum opportunities to actively participate in all aspects of community life, and to offer programs and services that support them in doing so.

Unique or Distinctive Qualities

The Arc of Baltimore is widely recognized for providing consistent quality services that enable participants to improve their quality of life through Community Living Services, Community and Supported Employment programs, Medical Day Centers, Family and Children's programs, and Quality Supports. Additional Services include Bay Buddies, respite care and foster care.

Discuss How Your Agency Has Utilized The "Ask Me!" Survey Results.

The survey results are shared with agency staff as well as the Quality Assurance Committee. The results are used to assist the different programs to develop goals for the Quality Assurance plan. The results are used as a foundation for training the direct support professionals in continuing to meet the needs of individuals they support in different programs.

The "Ask Me!" Survey Results is available for the general public.

Describe your quality assurance practices, including any agency accreditations?

The Arc of Baltimore's Quality Assurance plan has more than 40 goals that are monitored on a quarterly basis by the Quality Assurance Committee. The data is presented to the specific departments. The committee is chaired by a member of Board of Directors. The Arc also conducts Meaningful Outcomes interviews with individuals supported by the programs. These interviews are conducted by a board member and a self-advocate and are done on a quarterly basis. Surveys are also conducted by each department twice a year. Surveys are sent to individuals and caregivers to determine satisfaction with services.
The Arc of Baltimore received a 3-year CARF Accreditation in 2005 as well as MANO's Standards of Excellence award.

How Does Your Agency Support People In Becoming Active Members Of Their Community?

Community participation is discussed at every individual's annual planning meeting. If a person desires to become actve in his/her community, support is provided to assure that this happens. Support staff assist individuals to participate in their community by exploring the opportunities available based on the specific interests of the individual. Specific outcomes are developed for people based on choice and interest. The Arc also provides transportation to many community activities.
